The Lab of Intelligence Culture – Rethinking Freedom

Updated: Nov 20, 2019

Berlin, October 2019

Part I – Beginning

We live in an era and in a portion of the world, where freedom is as if a given at the cultural and political level. Yet, are our minds any freer in their reflective autonomy? The modern image of freedom might be but a subtle illusion holding our self-images in an era which becomes ever more emblematic of influence and deceitful control, justified by greater forces, whether economic growth or social media.

It is thus more than relevant to re-address this concept, unearth its ramifications and the way we use them, and follow its lines of emergence through history and across conditions, whether physical, cultural or indeed related to the notion and nature of mind. That we may find our voice to walk the landscape, and stand by it.

Open Call – to Lab researchers

“Freedom roots the best of human creation, it is always carved, always unstable and an unpredictable fluctuation on the map of the forces at play. An infinitesimal (crack) in the mythological equation, freedom stands as a fleeting suggestion in the unrelentless dynamics of the game of life.

In fostering ‘navigation in uncertainty’ as a mode of thought, and in the scope of literacy of mind, we are searching for a ‘difference' with which to mind the times, with a needed crack and extended maneuver.

The corridor to our next Lab comes this time with an Open Call - to take part in the exposure of the endless folds of Freedom, from any angle or manifest one thinks relevant. We are inviting all participants of the lab to submit an initial work idea, centered around Freedom and its role in animating thought and cultivating histories, upon the ledger of time, past, present or that which we call the future.”

Following this short intro, the first response to the Call,
